The “fold” of the iPhone would cost less than expected when it arrives next year

Apple’s long -awaited entry into the foldable space will finally take place next year, according to the latest analyst report. In a customer note seen by CNBC earlier this week, JPMorgan said that the “fairly limited” version of the iPhone 17 will be followed by the more convincing launch of the first “iPhone fold” in the fall of 2026.
“Investor Focus has already turned to the fall 2026 launches,” wrote the analyst, “with Apple who should launch his first foldable iPhone as part of the iPhone 18 range in September 2026, with a book fold similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series.”
The last of the Samsung Galaxy foldables, the Z Fold 7, has an outdoor display which measures 6.5 inches and an 8 -inch interior. Apple’s rival system, according to JPMorgan, will be a little less well equipped, with screens measuring 5.5 and 7.8 inches respectively. But that should compensate for this in other areas, such as its foldable chassis display, a technology on which Samsung is still working and hopes to achieve in time for the Z Fold 8.
The planned launch period largely corresponds to the current consensus, because most reports expect the first folding iPhone to launch at the end of 2026 or at the beginning of 2027. When JPMorgan differs from competitors is expected. Recognizing that the iPhone fold will have “premium prices”, the analyst nevertheless launches the PDSF at around $ 1,999, a high price, but a little lower than expected and compliant with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which starts at $ 1,999 for 256 GB of storage. Previous estimates put the folding iPhone between $ 2,000 and $ 2,300.
