The flight delays and cancellations hit Charlotte airport

Travelers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport had several cancellations on Friday.

Charlotte, NC – Some travelers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport were faced with disturbances on Friday afternoon, with more than 731 flight delays and 132 cancellations reported at 10:35 p.m.

American Airlines, who sees the most flights in and outside the airport, told WCNC Charlotte that a technological problem for some of its systems had contributed to delays. The airline apologized to travelers and said the previous cancellations were caused by violent weather conditions experienced overnight. The American said the problem was solved by the afternoon.

More delays stood up, however, after the storms briefly crossed the Charlotte region on Friday evening. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) published a field stop which was to expire before 9 p.m., from 6:30 p.m., the status page of the national airspace system indicated that the stop of the land was requested by an airline, and the message of the air traffic control system (ATCSC) appeared that the American airlines have requested.

American later confirmed to WCNC Charlotte, he had asked for the ground stopping due to the storms crossing the area, and that it was a standard procedure to do so.

During the floor stop, Medic also pointed out that seven people had been taken at the airport for treatment. The agency, around 10 p.m., said that patients have inhaled something. Six patients underwent minor injuries while there were serious symptoms. WCNC Charlotte asked for comments from the airport managers and also asked for additional information from Seiu, the union, which represents the airport workers.
