When it was announced that “The Office” would get its first major spin-off, many fans of the beloved sitcom from Greg Daniels have probably rolled their eyes. Even if “The Office” was himself a remake of the British series of the same co-created name and with Ricky Gervais (with Steve Carell playing the main role of Michael Scott, the manager of a business of intermediate level paper, for the American version), it’s still a bit to rescue that, you know, we do this. By “this”, I mean a false television series on a place that sells paper in a form or a defined form in the office itself. We get “paper”, however, and the first trailer is not … not particularly encouraging.

Here’s how the two -minute overview takes place, roughly. We learn that a company called Dennervate is responsible for paper products which are mainly concentrated on the toilet, but Also Owns The Toledo Truth Teller, a small Midwest journal which is clearly in a bad place (both figuratively and literally, as we see as someone like a bird cage lining). When Ned Sampson of Domhnall Gleeson arrives as a new editor -in -chief of the newspaper, it is clear that he had his work for him; When they ask employees if they have already written professionally, it is said to be part of a group cat on text and another said that he had written a “tweet”.

Like most people, I like “The Office”, and like most fans of “The Office”, I am a little concerned with this spin-off. The trailer, which did not make me laugh much, does not inspire much confidence. What do you know, however? It’s good, because the first season of “The Office” type of Pue, so the first season of “The Paper” probably deserves a small room for maneuver when it falls on Peacock this fall.

The office needed time to find its base, so maybe we should give a chance to the newspaper

If you don’t remember the first season of “The Office” could be For better. The program pilot is essentially a remake drawn for the British “office” pilot, which is a confusing movement in itself. And although the inaugural season takes steam with episodes like “Diversity Day” (who put Michael Scott from Steve Carell and his ridiculous before and at the center), it is definitely a weak season compared to the second outing of “The Office”, which is quite extraordinary. At the time when “The Office” was created as a replacement for mid-season in 2005, nobody thought that it would become one of the greatest television sensations of its generation-so should we give “paper” the same luck?

Maybe! It is not a simple answer. On the one hand, “The Paper” is supervised by Greg Daniels once again, and the casting includes Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore (“The White Lotus”), the actor standing Alex Edelman, Ramona Young (“Never have”), and even Oscar Nuñez taking up his role as Oscar Martinez of “The Office”. On the other hand, made someone ask For that, or is it just an unmountful attempt to take advantage of nostalgia and residual affection for “The Office” (which is probably broadcast on TBS while I write this)? I don’t know, honestly. I am not sold on the first trailer of “The Paper”, but I am not ready to use it either as a lining for a bird cage (and not only because I really hate birds – they are shaded, sorry!). “The Paper” deserves a chance to gain good will during its first season, but at a streaming time when the programs are chopped if they do not become immediately popular (or at least it seems), we will have to see what the titles say when it is presented.

“The Paper” begins its race on Peacock on September 4, 2025, while “The Office” is in trouble on Peacock now.
