The F1 veteran weighs on the potential teams of George Russell if Max Verstappen joins Mercedes

With the immediate future of George Russell wrapped in uncertainty in the middle of Max Verstappen in Mercedes Links, former runner Johnny Herbert weighed on what could expect for the 27 -year -old British pilot. The former FIA Steward recently predicted potential destinations for Russell if he left the Mercedes team.
Russell, who is currently the main engine of the Brackley -based outfit, has seen his immediate future draw significant attention, especially in recent weeks. The former Williams racing driver, ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, suggested that the team had organized conversations with Max Verstappen on a possible change of Red Bull Racing.
These rumor conversations with the Dutch driver were still amplified by recent developments following the conclusion of the British Grand Prix. However, in the midst of increasing speculation, Herbert offered his reflections on the teams that Russsell could potentially join. He said Escape magazine (cited via Planetf1):
“The potential for George Russell to join Aston Martin is always a possibility. I think there is an opportunity there. Alpine is the only one where there is a seat.”
The 61 -year -old continued, safeguarding his suggestions:
“You don’t want to sit a year, because it’s normally the worst thing you can do. Things move far too quickly in Formula 1, and you could very easily dismiss yourself – even if you are George Russell.”
Until now, Russell has experienced an impressive 2025 campaign. The native of Lynn du Roi has won a race victory and several podiums this season. The question of whether Max Verstappen ultimately goes to Mercedes is something that only time will say.
Helmut Marko on the future of Max Verstappen in the midst of Mercedes links

Red Bull’s main advisor, Helmut Marko, recently weighed on the future of Max Verstappen in the midst of growing links with the Mercedes team. The 82 -year -old man underlined the fact that the quadruple world champion remains under contract with the Red Bull race.
The leader of the Milton Keynes team of the driver development program, however, suggested that there was no concern within the team about the future of Verstappen. Sharing of his thoughts following the conclusion of the British Grand Prix, as mentioned by Planet F1He said:
“It has a contract until 2028. Like all the best teams, there are performance -based liberation clauses, and as things arise, there is no reason why this contract cannot be fulfilled. They are currently such that there is no concern concerning an outing.”
So far, Max Verstappen, on his part, has been widely tightened on his immediate future. The 27 -year -old has greatly stressed that nothing had changed concerning his approach and his desire with the Red Bull race. However, it has been declared that he has not categorically denied any form of negotiations with Mercedes outfit.
With the silly season of Formula 1 booming, which becomes the future of Verstappen is surely a news problem to watch closely.
