The earthquake stops the game! 2nd Bangladesh vs Ireland Test comes to a temporary halt in Dhaka

Mehidy Hasan Miraz was bowling when all the players suddenly stopped bowling as the ground started shaking.
Rain or bad lights stop play! Most stoppages in cricket happen due to one of these reasons. In Dhaka, perhaps for the first time, the play stopped due to an earthquake. We were in the first session on day three of the Bangladesh vs Ireland 2nd Test when the play halted.
Earthquake stops Bangladesh vs Ireland 2nd Test
Dhaka and its surrounding regions were hit with an earthquake of 5.7 on the Richter scale. At that exact moment, the 56th over of the second innings, Bangladesh off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz was bowling to Ireland’s wicketkeeper batter Stephen Doheny. And then everyone stopped.

The players in the dressing room were told to come out, and everyone stood over the boundary line at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. The spectators in the stand stood perplexed, and some looked worried as well.
However, the moment of panic passed and luckily everyone around was fine. Everything got back to normal within minutes, and the play resumed. Lorcan Tucker took strike as Ireland trailed by 311 runs with just 5 wickets in hand, and Mehidy restarted the proceedings with a dot ball.
