The doj says that he charged the member of the NJ congress for having assaulted the application of laws at the Ice Facility

The Ministry of Justice said that he had lodged charges on Monday, against representative Lamonica Mciver, DN.J., alleging that she had assaulted the police this month in an immigration and customs application center in Newark.
The American lawyer for the district of New Jersey Alina Habba made this announcement on X, where she accused the democratic legislator of “assault, hampering and interfering with the police”.
In a statement, McIiver described the accusations against her “purely political” and said that she was impatiently awaiting “the truth is clearly exposed to the court”.
“Earlier this month, I joined my colleagues to inspect the treatment of ice prisoners in Delaney Hall in my district. We devote our legitimate surveillance responsibilities, as the members of the Congress have done so several times before, and our visit should have been peaceful and short.

Deputy Prosecutor General Todd Blanche supported Habba’s declaration, writing on X that “assaults against federal police will not be tolerated”.
Habba, in a separate statement on Monday, said that his office had abandoned accusations against the mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, who had been arrested on the same day, McIver and two other Democrats in the Chamber were in the establishment.
“After in -depth consideration, we agreed to reject the accusation of the offense of the mayor Baraka of intrusion to move forward,” said Habba in a statement, while adding that the rejection of the accusations against Baraka, candidate for the post of governor of New Jersey, is not the end of the case.
