Cleveland – The Dodgers obtained five good rounds from Clayton Kershaw on Wednesday. Then they allowed themselves to get lost in an eighth round of five points.
Despite most of the day at Progressive Field, seeking to end their road trip with a three-game scan against the Cleveland Guardians, the Dodgers rather lost 7-4 after an eighth round crisis.
It was three bullet singles on the ground, a walk to load the basics and a swing mighty angel Martínez who changed the game.
Led 4-2 entering the eighth, the left-hander of the Dodgers, Tanner Scott, took the mound for his second work round, the manager Dave Roberts asking him for an outing from top to bottom of his most recently from top to bottom.
The appearance of Scott had started well, removing Gavirel Arias to escape a jam in the seventh round.
But, in what was billed as his fifth backup of the season, he failed to limit the damage when a threat was starting to brew.
Jhonkensy Noel launched the frame with a ball in the middle, after the second goal player Kiké Hernández arrived in the hole but had no chance of launching. Will Wilson followed this with a rotating bullet on the third basic line, his clumsy jump on the edge of the stumbling inner grass Max Mancy for another simple in the inner field.
Scott only harmed his own cause from there, walking Daniel Schneemann in a left match on Left to load the basics.
And although he fused Austin Hedges for the first outing of the English Channel, Nolan Jones struck a bouncer of a single outing who found a hole through the left side of a quirky inner field. Two points came to score. An advance that the dodgers had owned since the fourth round had suddenly evaporated.
The final blow came in the next stick, when left -handed Alex Vesia entered the match and quickly fell late at 2 and 0 in Martínez. Vesia tried to return to the account with a quick ball in the area. Martínez rather set a blow to direct elimination, guess a circuit of three points on the left to finish the rally of five points of the Guardians.
The end noted that Kershaw, who only granted one point in five rounds despite only three withdrawals to the stick, was left with a decision without decision – and that the Dodgers were only to be content with a 3-3 record on this road trip from New York, falling to another frustrating loss during a section of the season which was recently full of them.
