The diving team finds a vehicle belonging to the mother of California who disappeared with her baby

The vehicle belonging to a sacramento woman who disappeared with her baby last month was found overwhelmed in a central channel in California, and the body of an adult and an infant was found inside, the police announced on Sunday.

Whisper Owen, 36, and her 8 -month -old daughter Sandra McCarty, were seen for the last time on July 15 after visiting her family in Fresno, said the sheriff’s office of Fresno county last month.

The pair had returned home to a 2006 silver chevrolet trailblazer, which was last captured on a traffic camera in the city of Atwater, north of Fresno, a few hours after their departure.

The family was waiting for them in Elk Grove, in the county of Sacramento, but due to poor communication, they did not realize that Owen was missing for three days, relatives told CNN on July 28.

A non-profit diving team found a vehicle corresponding to the description of Owen on Sunday in Oakdale, about 45 minutes north of Atwater, said a spokesperson for the Sanrif of San Joaquin.

The sheriff’s office and the diving team went to the site and the bodies of an adult and an infant were found in the vehicle, said the spokesperson. The medical examiner’s office will officially identify the bodies, but the family of the missing woman was on the diving site and identified the vehicle as hers, said the spokesperson.

The vehicle was found during a excavation in a navigable lane in the area of Highway 120 and Victory Road in the county of San Joaquin, according to a spokesperson for the Fresno police department, head of the investigation.

San Joaquin County Sheriff and California Highway Patrol are investigating how the vehicle has been in the water, police said in a statement.

“We sent two Fresno PD – detectives at the location of the 120 highway and Victory Road to continue our investigation and work with the Sheriff department concerning the details of the recovery,” said the press release.

“We continue to provide support for Whisper and Sandra’s family thanks to our detectives and will also provide additional support to the family through our fresno and chaplain police.”

Owen was in Fresno for a routine assessment for the baby, his mother, his mother, Vickie Torres told CNN. They left the city around 5 p.m., hoping to go home – about 158 miles from there – before nightfall.

When she did not get home, her partner thought she had stayed to help her mother clean up a house she had just bought, her brother told CNN last month. His partner did not realize that something was wrong before the following Saturday, when the two would normally spend the weekend together, said Richard Owen.

Owen’s partner contacted her family – that is to say when they realized that she had disappeared for three days – and her mother reported her disappearance at the Sheriff’s Bureau of Fresno.
