Genndy Tartakovsky is an absolute legend of animation. He helped inaugurate a new era of animated creativity on television during the Dawn of Cartoon Network with “Dexter’s Laboratory” before again redefining animation with the cartoon masterpiece which is “Samurai Jack”. And although the efforts on the big screen of Tartakovsky were roughly intended for children to this point, in particular with the films “Hotel Transylvania”, he finally returns with his first feature film in seven years … The one who is less “Dexter laboratory” and more “the Virgin of 40 years.”

Tartakovsky’s “fixed” has a very simple premise: a dog learns that he is sterilized the next day, so he decides to enjoy a last wild evening in town with his best buds to let his testicles party before leaving. Yes, it is an animated film on dog balls – and it is gloriously animated in 2D.

The first trailer for the film is here, and its main objective is to clearly show that it is not a film that children should watch … Although it is certainly a 14-year-old film that will eat and share clips from all social media. I have already shared my enthusiasm for this film when Tartakovsky screened images of “Fix” to Annecy Animation Festival in 2023, and I was able to watch the finished film to have its world premiere during this same festival earlier this year. This is why I can say with confidence that it is by far the dirtiest and hottest film of 2025, and it is guaranteed to be the only one to present testicles for dogs in good place and at least a few dog holes on the screen at any time. But there is more!

Tartakovsky’s fixed is not a film for children

The trailer for “Fixed” begins with a sweet story on a puppy named Bull (Adam Devine) adopted by a loving family. Cutting immediately at two years later and Bull is now a crazy sex machine that desperately works and brutally his leg of Nana as if there was no tomorrow. This is literally as the real film begins, and there is no confusion of what is happening on the screen. There is also no chance of a “Saucisses Day” scenario in which parents can innocently bring their children to look at a cartoon, without realizing that it ends with a giant animated orgy until it is too late. No, sir. This film begins with Bull groaning loudly as it goes back and forth on Sweet Nana’s leg, its testicles on a prominent display.

The rest of the trailer is no less dirty, with f bombs, a hilarious hilarious dog stroke violently tearing a shred squirrel (blood everywhere), then a bunch of dogs in a pleasure house. It was not the Tartakovsky that gave us “Dexter’s Lab”, but the Tartakovsky which gave us “primordial”, only this time with dog balls instead of the crrise of the skull. He looks hilarious, torrid than hell, and is an absolute cinematographic miracle.

Although adult animation has never been as popular or successful as it is now, it is above all the case on television. Indeed, programs like “Arcane”, “Rick and Morty” and “Bojack Horseman” helped to change our way of thinking this particular type of animation. It is no longer limited to sitcoms like “The Simpsons”, but can also include hot comedies, fantastic gender stories and captivating dramas. It is not surprising that the only television series with Rotten Tomatoes perfectly based on video games is animated and targeting a more adult audience. Once again, however, with regard to cinema, it is a completely different story, because adult animation is mainly relegated to international outings or independent films.

Fixed is a miracle

Of course, “Fixed” does not receive a large theatrical version, but for a film like this, having millions of excited teenagers with access to Netflix looking at him in rehearsal and laughing at their ass with each hot joke is even better. This is a situation similar to that of “Kpop Demon Hunters”, which has been abandoned on Netflix and has become a global phenomenon largely due to adolescents who can instantly share film clips on social media alongside the excellent film soundtrack.

To put it frankly, “Fixed” by Tartakovsky is a miracle of cinema. It is a hard film and rated in R which is fully animated 2D and uses the talents of Disney animators, including one of the wizards behind “Who a framed Roger Rabbit”. Indeed, Tartakovsky does not only fill the screen with animated butts and a pair of dog balls; He also uses his golden age of animation of influences (mainly, Chuck Jones and Tex Avery) to create a film full of visually superb physical gags and hilarious Slapstick humor. Although it is not exactly the squash and stretching, it is always extremely cartoon in a way that the medium has somehow forgotten to be in the past two decades.

In other words, there is no film like “Fixed”, and even if the point of sale of the film is its hot humor, it is also a rather sweet and sincere story of friendship and link. You can see for yourself when the film begins to broadcast on Netflix on August 13, 2025.
