The director of Superman James Gunn gives an update on the time that fans should expect the film of authority

Superman’s director James Gunn said that his decision to make the engineer a henchman for Lex Luthor came from a desire to present the public to the world of Wildstorm and his characters.
Addressing BlavityTV, Gunn said he also thought that Angela Spicer’s powers were simply cool and thought they would be a good match for Superman.
“”I really liked the engineer’s Powerset and I liked to take elements of the history of authority – she is a member of authority in comics – and giving these elements to Lex Luthor, to really combine the characters Wildstorm and DC in the DCU. And I thought his Powerset was ready to fight Superman.“”
A follow -up question was then asked to find out if the authority’s film was still happening and if the engineer would appear, what Gunn replied: “We could surely happen, ” in a somewhat evasive way. “It is not something that is happening particularly quickly right now, but it could happen, that’s for sure.“”
Based on Gunn’s comments, it seems that the engineer’s background is based on the revival series of the wild storm where Angela Spicer is more a reluctant hero. She wins her abilities in a moment of crisis, to save a colleague but her transhuman implants make her sick.
While appearing on the official Podcast of DC Studios, said Defaria previously, the director James Gunn initially envisaged the engineer as a stoic and insensitive presence, a “really serious poker face, nothing ever happens to him”.
However, De Faría quickly recognized a deeper emotional nucleus within the character who resonated with his own actor experience, in particular his history in Telenovelas. “Oh shit, arrives at him. She feels a lot. And she is really emotional and I think it’s Telenovela,” she frankly shared, stressing the unexpected depth she found.
De Faría has also developed the complex motivations of the engineer, in particular his relationship with Lex Luthor.
She designed a personal background for the character, convinced that the engineer is fundamentally motivated by a real desire for a better world.
De Faría thinks that the engineer probably underwent infantile trauma, which fueled his need to “be part of the change”. This trauma, she explains, makes the engineer “a good person of heart which is extremely broken”. It is this broken idealism that forces her to unite her forces with Lex Luthor, because she is “ready to team up with Lex to get rid of what he believes to be bad foreigners”.
Superman opens American theaters on July 11.
