The director of `Lilo & Stitch ” explains why a character is not in the remake

With Lilo & StitchJourney to Live-Action, at least one character has not returned from the 2002 Disney animated film from 2002.
Director Dean Fleischer Camp recently explained that he had to “release real estate” in his new remake, now in theaters, which is why the Gantu captain of the Galactic Federation does not appear in his remake.
“Gantu was one of those things that just didn’t work so well in live action,” he told Cinema Blend. “We explored it a bit, but finally we had to make the decision.”
Camp added: “And also, I maintain the decision, because I feel like many things that, trying to found these characters more and tell a story with a little more emotional depth, especially between the sisters, I have the impression that you must release real estate to allow this breathing room to do these things.”
In Lilo & Stitch (2002), Kevin Michael Richardson expressed Captain Gantu, the biggest stitch rival / Experiment 626 which stops at nothing to apprehend the escaped creature.

Camp previously spoke to Deadline of what he could and could not include the original. “I think we all came from a place of true love for the original. It’s always my favorite Disney film,” he said. “And so, I think there were many, and sometimes you have to let go and kill your darlings and it simply does not work for one reason or another.
“But I think the main things we really focus on, we were, and I am proud that we have nailed him. I think that the conception of Stitch character and his personality who really pass. [who voiced Nani in the 2002 film] And the consultation with a large part of the original animation team was simply super important for us and quite lucky to have worked, ”added Camp.
