The demonstrators struck the first meeting of the open FCC from Brendan Carr since the suspension of Kimmel

The president of the FCC, Brendan Carr, was defined as a “censorship tsar” by demonstrators, who disrupted the open meeting of the Federal Communications Commission in Washington DC on Tuesday – before being escorted by security.

The open meeting was the first of the FCC since the suspension of several days of Jimmy Kimmel of his late evening show ABC – which occurred after Carr publicly condemned the actor for his comments on the alleged killer of Charlie Kirk.

The suspension subsequently triggered the debates of the first amendment, with a lot of charges to attack freedom of expression in the middle of the drama. Tuesday demonstrators expressed a similar feeling during their demonstration during the FCC meeting, because they have repeatedly shouted in the middle of the assembly: “Fire Carr, the czar of censorship”.

The incident was taken live from the meeting, which saw the secretary of the FCC, Marlene Dortch, seems uncomfortable after being interrupted by the songs of the demonstrators.

Car, however, seemed to laugh at the outcry and smiled a little in the middle of the calls of the demonstrators. The Livestream audio cut after a few moments.

Our revolution, a non -profit organization founded by the American senator Bernie Sanders, took the credit of the demonstration and explained that they were trying to hold the “responsible FCC” for obtaining “Trump critic” content.

“We are here today at the FCC because Brendan Carr, the FCC commissioner, used threats to silence the Trump administration criticism, including Jimmy Kimmel,” said the organization in a video on X. “So we are here to say that it is unacceptable. You must dismiss Brendan Carr.”

Our revolution also wrote online: “We showed up clearly: Trump and his friends will not silence our dissent. Freedom of expression means the right to call corruption, oligarchy and authoritarianism. “

Carr did not immediately respond to the request for Thewrap comments.
