One of the previous promotions of To many featured cameos from several Break the bad stars, raising many questions about whether the sci-fi series takes place in the same universe as Vince Gilligan’s hit crime drama. Although this is certainly not the case, To many continues to fascinate viewers in episode 6 by featuring another cameo. John Cena’s Pluribus Cameo is a dark reminder of what the world has become

John Cena is featured as one of the infected characters in To many. After Carol learns that the infected people are cannibals, he explains in a video why they made this dietary choice. Like the other infected humans, John Cena barely retains his individual identity. Instead, he too is part of the hive mind that keeps all infected humans in a collective state of happiness.

His appearance soon serves as a reminder of how, like him, billions of humans have completely lost their sense of individuality. The world once knew him as an entertainment icon, recognized for his own larger-than-life persona and set of on-screen gadgets. However, after infection, he too became indistinguishable from the collective.

Everything he was once known for has been consumed by the primordial hive mind. This, in turn, has made him a mere puppet for a combined consciousness that has a skewed sense of utopia. For this reason, it’s hard not to see her cameo as a reminder of the dark state of the world in which Carol is one of the few people capable of thinking for themselves.
