Netanyahu has nourished Hamas for years

Liberman said that “many times” Netanyahu prevented targeted strikes against the leaders of Hamas, who, according to him, finally led to his departure from the government.

“For years, Netanyahu has nourished Hamas, and today we all pay the price,” said party leader Yisrael Beyté, Avigdor Liberman, in an article on X / Twitter on Friday morning.

Liberman noted in his article on social networks that he had opposed the Prime Minister during the release of the chief killed in Hamas Yahya Sinwar and more than 1,000 other terrorists in exchange for Gilad Schalit in 2011.

He continued to say that three years later, during the protective operation Edge, he had prior requests to take over the Gaza Strip and defeat Hamas.

“Between 2016-2018, Netanyahu has often ignored my warnings as Minister of Defense,” he added. “On December 21, 2016, I gave it a detailed document in which I demanded a pre -emptive strike against the terrorist organization. I explicitly warned of Hamas’ intention to infiltrate Israeli territory with the Nukhba forces, to grasp the communities, to take hostages and to shake the Israeli society.”

Liberman said “repeatedly” Netanyahu prevented targeted strikes against Hamas leaders, which he said that other members of the security level could go back.

Liberman says Netanyahu supported Hamas with Qatar money

At the end of 2018, Liberman said he had pressure for another operation to eliminate Hamas, but Netanyahu had passed a cease-fire and pursued a policy of “disposition” with Qatar. The chief of Yisrael Beyté said that this policy had transferred thousands of dollars from Qatar to Hamas.

Liberman said it had resigned from the Minister of Defense that year.

“The decision on a ceasefire with Hamas is a delivery to terror. You buy short-term silence at the price of seriously prejudice to long-term national security,” he said at a press conference announcing his departure.

He then called for elections, declaring that the next government should form a state commission of inquiry into the massacre of October 7.

“There, all those who are responsible, Netanyahu above all, will have to be held responsible. The citizens of Israel deserve to know the facts. We will not abandon this,” he wrote.
