The candidate for “Love Island USA”, Yulissa Escobar, apologized on Friday for the previous use of a racial insult which made her launch the Peacock reality meetings program.
“I used [the N-word] Ignorant, not fully understanding the weight, the story or the pain behind him, “Miami’s native wrote on her Instagram.
“I was not trying to be offensive or harmful, but I now recognize that the intention does not excuse the impact. And the impact of this word is real. It is linked to generations of trauma, and it is not mine to use, “she said.
After the announcement of the distribution of season 7 on May 29, recordings of Escobar’s appearances on two separate podcasts resurfaced. In clips, she used the word n more than once while discussing the previous relationships.
His release in episode 2 was announced in a scene in which the narrator of the show simply informed viewers, “Yulissa left the villa.”
Escobar continued by saying in his article: “I spoke with casualness in the conversation, not thinking deeply or in a critical way of what I said, but that does not remove how false was.”
His article continued: “The truth is that I didn’t know better then, but I do it now. I took the time to think, learn and grow from that moment. ”
She added: “I have changed a lot since then, not only in the way I speak, but in the way I introduce myself, how I wear myself and how I honor the experiences of others.”
Escobar signed with: “For those who are disappointed or offended, I understand and I apologize. I’m sorry.”
