The co-founder of the cartel of Joaquín SINALOA “Chapo” Guzman complained in a letter to the judge who sentenced to life trafficking in the United States that they do not let him receive visits or speak to his lawyer, who for him is “vital”.
In a handwritten letter, El Chapo told Judge Brian Cogan, of the Oriental District Court of New York, that despite the fact that “3 weeks ago”, he authorized that his new lawyer Israel José Encinosa can visit him, talk to him by phone or write it, “To date, they have not authorized it”.
The well -known Mexican drug trafficker complains in addition to not having given him “the two letters” that his lawyer wrote. Encinosa “has about 10 months of vatation (sic) authorized by the government to visit me, to speak on the phone,” he said.
Consequently, he again asked the judge to intervene to allow him to see his defender. “For me, it’s vital,” he told the letter dated July 15 and from which AFP obtained a copy on Tuesday.
Encinosa represents Narco Sinalenense since July 1, according to a judicial document signed by the siege of Florida.
Sentenced to life imprisonment in 2019 for leaving a drug smuggling operation on an industrial scale, Guzmán is in the maximum security prison Adx Florence, in Florence, Colorado, known as the name of the “Alcatraz de Las Roclosas”which houses some of the most dangerous criminals in the United States.
Famous for having escaped prison twice in Mexico – one of them through a one -kilometer tunnel that communicated with its cell – was extradited to the United States in 2017.
It is not the first time that he has complained about the maximum security prison.
In addition to requesting the realization of a new trial, which has been refused several times, had pointed out “Psychological torment in prison” Because they do not let him go to Sunbathe or communicate with other prisoners, nor the guards speak to him in Spanish.
