The Brownie competition is expanding the culinary controversy at the Kentucky State Fair | Local news

Louisville, Ky. (WDRB) – A culinary controversy stirred to the state of the state of Kentucky after the judges refused to grant a initial ribbon in the Brownie cooking competition, despite 37 entries.
Sydney Hill, a 26 -year -old Louisville nurse, obtained the only ribbon given – second place – in the competition. No first or third place award has been awarded.
“I mean, it’s pretty fiery,” said Hill. “I’m glad it was cutting.”
Hill said that she was proud of her entry, which included “a lot of sugar and a lot of butter” and hopes to improve her recipe for the holidays.
“I just want to know what my scores were so that I could improve the action of graces and Christmas,” she said. “Many people have asked for a vacation now.”
According to the published rules of the fair, the entries are judged on the appearance, texture, flavor and appropriate cooking, with a total of 100 possible points. The judges are required to have a four -year diploma and come from the Department of Culinary Sciences at the University of Kentucky.
The fair officials said that none of the leaves, tabs or notes of the judges of the judges remained in the file and refused to release the names of the judges.
“This is the state fair. It is a competition, and we have high standards,” said the superintendent of the state’s culinary department, Michael McGaha. “The judges knew what they were looking for, knew what they wanted and chose to give second.”
Ian Cox, communications manager for Kentucky State Fair and the Expo Center, dodged questions about the lack of transparency.
“Culinary has 3,500 admissions this year,” said Cox. “It is the greatest competition in the state fair. We know the criteria, and it is a question of seeing if something will be a blue ribbon next year.”
Online, people were not nice on the Brownie Baking Brew Haha.
People have published comments like “just because it is the fair, does not mean it’s right” and “Dang, who judges (Gordon Ramsey)” on Facebook.
Despite the confusion, Hill said she remained positive.
“My family’s compliments are enough,” she said.
