“It is a question of withdrawing the rights.” “It cannot be America.” An official trailer made its debut for an important documentary film entitled LibrariansOn librarians that fight against the fascist book prohibiting in America at the moment. The acclaimed doc will obtain a world version with the support of a coalition of supporters – including Film Forum, Dogwoof, 8 above, the independent objective of PBS, the BBC Storyville, Roco Films, Kanopy and a cohort of organizations defending the freedom to read, notably Pen America, the American Library Association, & Penguin Random House. Librarians Crosses a small town in the United States capturing shared experience and heroic actions of besieged librarians which are at the center of what has become a large -scale extremely coordinated movement against freedom of information. Faced with the choice of falling online or defending our most fundamental rights, these courageous librarians have chosen to risk everything and to be the first line of defense against current attacks against our democratic values. The film is not only a timely call for action against attempts to reduce access to often saves life for students, it is also an urgent reminder of what is at stake if the marginalized voices at the heart of the problems are reduced to silence.
