Gary Lineker: Match of the Day Host to leave the BBC next week and will not organize World Cup coverage | Football news

Gary Lineker has to leave the BBC after the last game of this season and will no longer present its World Cup coverage next year, Sky News is.
This occurs after having “excused unreservedly” for a new eternity of social media featuring a rat, claiming that it “would knowingly share anything anti -Semitic”.
The Lineker’s last appearance at the BBC will take place on May 25, the last day of the season, with a confirmation scheduled for Monday.
The former star of England announced in November that he would withdraw from the match of the day this year, but that he was to go back to the lead in 2026, as well as the blanket of the FA Cup.
Lineker, 64, said that he was not aware that the post he shared was anti -Semitic and that he went against “everything I think”.
The presenter was temporarily suspended from the BBC in March 2023 after a row of impartiality on the comments he made criticized the then conservative government’s asylum policy.
Lineker has organized a match of the day since 1999 and has been the best paid talent in the BBC for seven consecutive years.
Mark Chapman, Kelly Cates and Gabby Logan will take over from the show of Reflets for next season.
When the trio takes over as hosts, it will be the first time that the role will be shared by three people.
Sky News contacted the BBC to comment.
