The bears admit the risk of negotiation for now Mike Soroka

Chicago – The Chicago Cubs say they knew the risk when they exchanged the Mike Soroka launcher – who saw his speed fall on his last departures for the Washington Nationals before the agreement.
Soroka left her first departure for the cubs on Monday due to the discomfort of the shoulders, who landed on the injured list.
“We knew that the speed was down,” said Jed Hoyer, Baseball Operations president on Tuesday afternoon. “We talked about thoroughly. Given the market, given the price requested … We had the impression that it was a good bet to do. At the moment, that is not like a good bet.”
Hoyer said the team had tried to sign Soroka during the offseason because they had seen the potential in the veteran right -handed whose career was hampered by injuries. He had 3-8 with an MPM of 4.87 for the Nationals this season, although some of his expected statistics are better than real. But a drop of 2 MPH on her fast ball raised worries – enough for Soroka to have an MRI before her final departure as a national.
“For my peace of mind, we decided to check this box and nothing arose at the time a problem,” said Soroka after the defeat of Cubs 3-2 on Monday.
The Cubs were not willing to absorb the costs for many launchers who changed teams but had the impression that Soroka was worth it. They exchanged two prospects for him – the triple -a voltiseur Christian Franklin and the 18 -year -old interior field player Ronny Cruz – but none is considered the elite.
“This risk profile was known,” said Hoyer about the drop in Soroka’s speed before trade. “We spent a lot of time on this. … We have done a lot of reasonable diligence, a ton of research, and if it does not work, it is on me.”
Cubs find it difficult to fill their rotation this season after losing the left-hander Justin Steele to an injury at the end of the season, Shota Imanaga for more than a month for a maidio-leg disease and the right of right-handed Jameson Taillon to a calf problem. The latter player returns to the majors, just like Javier Assad – who has not launched this season due to an oblique injury.
The team could turn to the right -hander Ben Brown to fill this place in the rotation until the aid arrives. He took over for Soroka on Monday.
The Cubs hope that Soroka will not be made for the year; He is likely to get out of the enclosure of the lifts if he can return before the end of the regular season. In the meantime, Chicago must live with the notion that they exchanged two prospects for a launcher who could give them that two rounds during a pennant race.
“There are risks,” said manager Craig Counsell. “So far, it has not been well.”
