The federal government shutdown has put the women’s basketball season opener between No. 1 UConn and No. 20 Louisville in limbo.

The Connecticut Insider reported Thursday that the match, scheduled for Ramstein Air Base in Germany on November 4, may have to be moved to the United States.

According to the report, the Armed Forces Classic will be moved to a naval outpost in Washington, D.C., if the shutdown does not end by Monday.

Ramstein is not operating at full staff because workers in non-essential programs have been furloughed.

This will be the 10th Armed Forces Classic and the first between women’s teams.

The UConn men participated in the inaugural game, also hosted at Ramstein, on November 9, 2012, defeating Michigan State 66-62.
