Najmul Halsaine Shanto fell from the Bangladesh T20i team for the VS Sri Lanka series
Shanto, who is one of the best Bangladesh crickets today, has been doing one of the newspapers for some time now.
He recently resigned as Bangladesh test captain after the 1-0 defeat in the Sri Lanka national cricket team.
Shanto said he had decided to give up the captain for improving the team because three different captains through the formats is not the right way to move forward. In particular, the Bangladesh had three different captains – Shanto in the tests, Mehidy Hasan Miraz in Odis and Litton Das in T20is – through three formats.
In fact, Najmul Houssain Shanto was selected as the all-format skipper from the Bangladesh team, but he left Captain T20i earlier this year and was recently dismissed as Captain Odi, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz replacing him.
Meanwhile, the selectors decided to drop Najmul Hospi Shanto from the T20i team. Shanto only played one of the six T20i games for Bangladesh despite being part of the team for the previous series against the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan, and overall in 2024, he only reached 18.84 in 21 T20is.
Khaled Ahmed, Tanvir Islam, Hasan Mahmud and Soumya Sarkar fell
In addition to Shanto, the BCB selection committee abandoned Khaled Ahmed, Tanvir Islam, Hasan Mahmud and Soumya Sarkar of the T20i team.
To replace the aforementioned focused players, the selectors added Mohammad Naim, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin to the team.
The veterans Pacers Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman were added to the T20i team after recovering from their respective injuries, and they also played the first ODI of the series against the Lankan lions.
Naim, who played 35 T20is, returned to the team following a good performance during the 2024-25 domestic season, where he was the highest discount of BPL and NCL T20.
Speaking of the T20I series calendar, the first match should be played in Pallekele on July 10. The next two games in the series will be played in Dambulla and Colombo on July 13 and 16.
