The American public does not care about the greatest success at the box office animated by all time

“Ne Zha 2” did the unthinkable at the box office earlier this year when he became by far the most profitable animated film of all time. The Chinese blockbuster came out of nowhere to exceed “Inside Out 2” by Pixar ($ 1.69 billion), which broke the record last year – a record that seemed to be a long time. As impressive as the Chinese film race has been, it has largely failed to burst beyond its country of origin. The A24 made a significant effort during the weekend to bring out the American public to see this record epic, but that did not work particularly well.

The A24 has published a new Dub in English from “Ne Zha 2” by director Zi Jiao, who has a stellar cast led by the Oscar winner, Michelle Yeoh (“Everhything EverWhere All Orday”). The film won $ 2.15 billion worldwide and is just under $ 15 million to exceed James Cameron’s “Titanic” worldwide. Although the film was released in American theaters earlier this year, hope was that an English dub with recognizable stars would extend its scope. He even received IMAX screens across the country.

However, for all these efforts, the animated mastodon gained only $ 1.5 million during the weekend, landing at number 13 on the charts while “Kpop Demon Hunters” of Netflix arrived in the front row with $ 18 million. It was not exactly an overcrowded weekend, with “Honey Don’t!” Having only $ 3 million and director Ron Howard “Eden” bombardes with barely $ 1 million. Despite this, buyers of potential tickets in North America did not largely feel the need to see what it was.

The continuation focuses on a rebellious young boy named ne zha who is feared by the gods and born of fatal parents with wild powers. Faced with an old force with the intention of destroying humanity, he must grow up to become the hero that the world needs.

Ne Zha 2 is one of the greatest films of all time, but not in the world

The voice poured for the new English version of the A24 also includes Crystal Lee (“Genuhin Impact”), Vincent Rodriguez III (“Raya and the Last Dragon”), Aleks Le (“Solo Styleling”) and Damien Haas (“Predator: Killer of Killers”).

As for the reason why the public has not largely revealed? There are some obvious reasons. On the one hand, “Ne Zha 2” is a series of a film that the vast majority of American moviegoers have not seen. Admittedly, the original “Ne Zha” has been broadcast on Peacock for some time, but it is not exactly something that the average person is looking for. Beyond that, A24 had limited resources to enter the marketing campaign. To further complicate things, it is likely that there is a lot of crossing with the public for “Kpop Demon Hunters”, which had a two -day release only presented as a singing event. So this had the advantage on the market.

What we can say with certainty is that “Ne Zha 2” is the fifth most coarse film of all time behind “Titanic” (2.26 billion dollars), “Avatar: The Way of Water” (2.32 billion dollars), “Avengers: Endgame” (2.79 billion dollars), and “Avatar” (2.92 billion Dollars), but the film made almost $ 2 billion. All the other films in the world top 20 of all time had to count much more on the world theatrical market to do the work.

To illustrate how wild, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” held the previous record for the most money earned in a single country, with $ 936.6 million in its total of $ 2.07 billion from the United States “NE ZHA 2” was about 1 billion dollars more than in China. It remains fascinating that such a cultural phenomenon cannot extend this success worldwide. The Chinese public is increasingly promoting local titles, and that marks a real turning point. It may be a big problem, but Chinese regulators cannot force the rest of the world to worry about it.

“Ne Zha 2” is now in theaters.
