The 25th appearance in simple Venus Williams US Open ended at the first obstacle with defeat against Karolína Muchová, despite a second set of the 45 -year -old American who briefly threatened an upheaval of Flushing Meadows.
Muchová, the 11th Czech seeded and the finalist of the French Open in 2023 who reached the semi-finals of New York twice, recovered to take the third set with the loss of a single additional match and progress in the second round with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 victory.
