The 87 -year -old house is stopping concerns about age, intends to present itself for the 19th quarter

Democratic Washington, DC, delegate in the House of Representatives, Eleanor Holmes Norton, told journalists on Tuesday that she intended to present herself to re -election in 2026.

Norton, Who will be 88 years old on Friday, replied “Yeah, of course”, after she was asked if she was looking for a re -election, Politico reported. When they were asked how she would react to anyone wondering if she was able to continue serving at Congress at her age, Norton said “I’m going to run”, adding “I don’t know why someone would even ask me,” said the point of sale.

Norton has been a non-voting delegate of DC since 1991. Before the Norton Congress Service, former President Jimmy Carter appointed her to serve as a first woman to chair the American Commission for Employment Opportunities for Equality in the United States.

“I had the privilege of having a long and successful career by defending the rights of DC residents, who adopted me as their warrior on the hill,” said Norton in a press release provided to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Thanks to thoughtful discussions with my friends, my family and my closest advisers, I still consider my options for the next electoral cycle.”

“But for anyone questioning my ability to continue to serve effectively, I have a simple answer: my file talks about itself,” added Norton.
