Psoriasis near the eyes

“Sometimes, in this area, the patches can be less thick and less disgusting, which can make the diagnosis of psoriasis for the eyelids more difficult to do,” explains Franak Kamangar, MD, dermatologist of the medical group of the Palo Alto Foundation in Palo Alto, California.
The diagnosis of psoriasis in the eye area can be difficult, especially if someone does not already have any diagnosis of psoriasis established on the basis of symptoms in other areas of the body.
“When we think of rashes on the eyelids, the dermatitis of allergic contacts is more common, which could certainly be wrongly diagnosed,” explains Jordan Praytor, instructor of the dermatology department of Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.
When someone has symptoms of what can be psoriasis around the eyes, it is important to make a in -depth skin examination of other areas of the body, says Prayor. Often, she said, this will reveal signs of psoriasis in more typical areas – like around the ears, on the scalp or in skin folds – to which patients were not aware or who have not found enough to attract attention. This “gives the supplier additional clues that can help differentiate psoriasis from other diagnoses,” she says, like eczema around the eyes.
