Tesla’s 3+ model is the king’s range that we did not expect

Tesla has improved model 3, but there is room for growth
Last year, Tesla unveiled a major update for model 3, the first overhaul since its launch. The update appeared for the first time in China before a deployment in North America, with aerodynamic improvements, elegant style adjustments (such as revised rear lights and a smoother front fairing), and a quieter cabin thanks to the acoustic laminate glass and the refined wheels / tire combination.
The RWD long -range RWD 363 miles under EPA, marking an improvement of 10% of efficiency and the beach compared to previous versions. Despite these substantial improvements, the model 3 range always leaves room for growth, in particular with new rivals on the market.
Tesla could work on this, however, as a new “3+ model”, spotted in regulatory deposits of China by Carnewschina.

A better battery comes the “+”
The 3+ model is a rear rear engine traction variant, combining the efficiency of an RWD transmission with the energy density of a LG-Supplée Ternary Battery, previously reserved for AWD trim. The result is a configuration which aims to deliver the longest range on a model 3. The base base in China (62.5 kWh LFP) reaches 394 Miles CLTC, while the long -range AWD traction (78.4 kWh NMC) touch 468 miles.
By merging RWD efficiency with the higher performance of NMC, analysts estimate that the 3+ model could extend beyond 497 miles under CLTC. There is also an electric bump: Chinese Miit deposits indicate a 302 horsepower RWD engine, up the 260 horsepower engine in the existing basic RWD variant.
According to reports, Tesla provides for the price of approximately 270,000 Chinese yuan, or about $ 37,600 at current exchange rates, doing it perfectly between the basic RWD and the long -range AWD trim, with a launch scheduled for early September.
It should be noted that the CLTC cycle here tends to be more indulgent than EPA notes in the United States, so the performance of the real world will probably not be below CLTC figures.

Battery technology that can improve American Teslas
The emergence of the 3+ model suggests a convincing opportunity for the American range of Tesla. The automaker already offers a long-range RWD with a 79.7 kWh NMC battery and a 363 EPA-Mile range. The adoption of the battery configuration – more -RWD of the 3 + model could be closer to the EPA range of 400 miles, especially if other efficiency optimizations are applied.
The technical feasibility seems strong: the engine appears on a global scale (not specific to China) and the NMC packs are already built in the American factories of Tesla. Key considerations will include the cost, the complexity of the manufacturing and the appetite of consumers for another finishing option. If the boost is substantial – for example, a gain of 30 to 40 miles on current long -range models – it could become a high value variant and focused on efficiency rather than another price level.
