Washington Company recalling shrimp sold at Walmart due to the radioactive risk

No more shrimp of Indonesia and sold in Walmart stores in 28 states are recalled due to the exhibition to a radioactive isotope.

Aquastar (USA) Corp de Seattle, WA, recalls 26,460 packs of 6 ounce cocktail shrimp, imported from Indonesia, because they may have been prepared, wrapped or detained in unsanitary conditions by which they can be contaminated by cesium-137 (CS-137).

CS-137 is an artificial cesium radio-isotope. Traces of CS-137 are widespread and can be present in the environment at bottom levels, and at higher levels in water or cultivated, high or products in areas with environmental contamination.

The primary health effect of concern after exposure to a low long -term dose, as by consuming food or contaminated water over time, is a high risk of cancer, resulting from DNA damage in living cells of the body.

The touched shrimps were sold only in Walmart stores in AK, Al, AR, Co, Ga, IA, ID, Il, in, KS, Ky, La, Mi, MN, MO, MS, MT, ND, ND, OH, OK, OR, SD, TN, TX, WA and WA between July 31, 2025 and August. Use on dates.

The affected shrimp is packed in a transparent plastic tray and has a red and white label. The product recalled to the UPC 19434612191 and one of the codes of Lot 10662 5106, 10662 5107, 10662 5124 or 10662 5125 at the bottom of the plastic plate.

No disease has been reported to date.

Consumers who have bought affected shrimp should not consume the product and should dispose or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
