Taron Egerton’s classic musical will be released in November

Taron Egerton knows how to sing. We know this from the animated film Singwhich is aptly titled to illustrate this point. But fans quickly realized just how talented he was when he took on one of his biggest roles to date: Elton John. The 2019 movie Rocket Man It seemed like a typical biopic, detailing John’s life through his music and career. But the Dexter Fletcher The film elevated the idea of what a music biopic could be and is easily one of the best films of the last decade. And now fans can stream it on Paramount+ this November!
Egerton shares the role of Elton John with two other actors. Kit Connor plays John when he is a young boy discovering his own love of music, but we also had Matthew Illesley playing the younger version of “Reginald Kenneth Dwight”, John’s birth name. As we watch him discover who he is (the Elton John of it all), we also discover how difficult John’s childhood was. And how that played into his drug and alcohol problems which were detailed during his rise to fame.
Rocket Man also stars Richard Madden as John Reid, John’s former manager and lover. But the most important relationship throughout the film (and in John’s real life) is his friendship and collaboration with the lyricist. Bernie Taupinbeautifully played by Jamie Bell in the film. At the heart of Rocket Man is a story of self-discovery and friendship between these two men who helped bring us so many beautiful songs.
One of the most unique entries in the biopic conversation
Often with biopics, the genre ensures that they are either boring or very “by the book”. But what Lee Hall What the script of this film does is present it from Elton’s point of view. We begin the film with him going to rehab, stripping naked, and telling his story as a group about how he got to where he was at that time. SO everything we learn is subjective from the start. That, mixed with fantastic elements that you would believe John capable of if you are a fan of his work, all about Rocket Man is both devastating and whimsical in a captivating way. That’s why it’s one of the best biopics ever made.
You can sit down and sing along Rocket Man when it begins streaming on Paramount+ on November 26.
