Tarik Skubal’s huge contract gap with the Tigers is even bigger than initially thought

The huge gap between the Tigers and Tarik Skubal, first reported here, is even bigger than initially thought.
Turns out the Tigers’ offer to Skubal a year ago was less than $80 million for four years. It was originally reported here that it was less than the $170 million the Red Sox signed Garrett Crochet for, and it’s actually less than half. Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press later reported that the amount was less than $100 million.
Skubal’s candidate is logically Gerrit Cole, who received $324 million six years ago.
Rivals still don’t believe the likelihood of the Tigers trading Skubal this winter, as they are a contending team that has made the playoffs two years in a row.
