Taps Taps NBC Nightly News Ep Meghan Flatty as VP of information standards

Firferty, which has been the EP for the show of NBC New Linchpin since 2021, will start its new role in early September. Brian Carovillano, Vice-President Director of Standard Standards and Partnerships for the news, made this announcement in a service note on Tuesday.

“It will help direct our team of information standards and guide the editorial rooms of MSNBC and CNBC to ensure that the work is fair, precise and transparent,” he said.

Carovillano added that Flatty will focus on the definition and maintenance of “highest standards for our journalism” and that it will report to him directly.

Firferty has been at NBC Nightly News since 2017, when she started as a main producer. During her time as the main producer of the show, she was honored with a Murrow Award in 2022 and a George Polk Award this year for the series of investigation “Dealing the Dead”, which examined how unqualized bodies were dissected for medical research without family consent.

Before joining NBC, Firoferty spent a decade in CNN, where she was a producer for Wolf Blitzer and Christiane Amanpour.

The Flaffe-Square move intervened after the Comcast spin-off company appointed a new management suite last month. His hiring was also announced on the same day, the former president of the NBC cable, Tom Rogers, joined a slope as a main advisor.
