Suryakumar Yadav on BCCI forcing players to play domestic cricket

Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has shared his views on BCCI making it mandatory for all centrally contracted players to play domestic cricket.
Following the Test series against New Zealand and Australia in the last WTC cycle, the BCCI sent a ten-point guidance document to all contracted players. One of these mandates stated that players must now make themselves available for all domestic cricket when not playing any international series.

The BCCI also warned players that avoiding domestic cricket could cost them a place in the Indian team as well as central contracts.

Suryakumar Yadav on domestic cricket:
While the BCCI’s mandate has received praise from many quarters, it has also attracted some criticism. Many have suggested that most Indian players already have a busy schedule and forcing them to play domestic cricket could take a toll on their bodies.
However, Suryakumar Yadav believes it is important for players to “go back to the roots”. The star batsman said that the domestic circuit is very competitive and beneficial for the players.
“It’s important to go back to your roots. The domestic circuit is very competitive. It helps you prepare well. If you go to international matches after playing nationally, you stay in touch and I think that’s the best preparation for any player. A lot of players have played nationally, so that’s good.” Suryakumar Yadav told the media ahead of the first T20I against South Africa.
Suryakumar recently represented Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy before joining the national team for the South African series.
Suryakumar Yadav eyes another series win:
Suryakumar Yadav will be keen to extend his impressive unbeaten run as India’s T20I captain. India is yet to lose a T20I series under his captaincy and he will be eager to lead the team to another series victory.
Meanwhile, India will look to make the most of the momentum after winning the ODI series against the Proteas. After suffering a humiliating 2-0 defeat in the Test series, India bounced back to win the ODI series 2-1 and will be eager to win the T20I series as well.
