Superman (2025) Filming location: where is Metropolis?

Over the decades of “Superman” comics, Metropolis was located in various places. In James Gunn’s new film, it’s again in Delaware – but no, it’s not really the Delaware you see on the screen. In fact, the film turned far from it.
Like any film, there are several filming locations. A large part of “Superman” was shot in various cities of Georgia, but it was mainly for interiors. The city of Metropolis you see is in the Midwest – Cleveland, Ohio, to be specific. Meanwhile, the Hall of Justice, where the gang of justice is dragging, is finished in Cincinnati.
You may wonder why Ohio was chosen for this version of “Superman”. Well, it is partly because this is where the creators of the character, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, had the idea of Superman. But for director James Gunn, it was just an additional bonus.
“We went to look for it because he has all this beautiful Art Deco architecture which is what we wanted that the Metropolis look is,” revealed Gunn in the film production notes. “It turned out that it corresponded to what we were looking for in a city, and it has also proven to be the birthplace of Superman.”
But, according to David Corenswet, who plays the steel man, the team has also slipped into the blink of an eye to their own birthplace, Philadelphia. As part of the Horizon of Metropolis, Liberty Place can be seen, which is a skyscraper in Philly.
“Superman” is now in theaters around the world.
