SUPERGIRL test screening reports are mostly positive; New Details About Lobo and Movie’s ‘Disappointing’ Villain

With Supergirl set to hit theaters next summer, it appears DC Studios has already begun testing the film (similar to Superman(don’t be surprised if a detailed plot outline ends up making its way online).

Daniel Richtman was the first to report that a drug test took place yesterday, revealing that he “I have heard nothing but good things from many people.” However, the trailer and runtime leaker @Cryptic4KQual brought us back to Earth with a shock.

“Yes, Supergirl took a drug test.” the insider shared. “About 2 hours 5 minutes. From what I’ve heard, [the] the feedback wasn’t great, but it wasn’t a bad film. Some scenes shine much more than others. Milly is praised for her performance in the role. Lobo has 2 fights. The villain is disappointing.”

Superman also received mixed reviews during test screenings, but ultimately managed to score 83% on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer and largely won over fans. As always, it’s best not to put too much stock in these initial reactions, although they obviously give an idea of what to expect.

Lobo having two fight scenes is exciting, as it’s just his introduction to the DCU. Unfortunately, the fact that Krem des Collines Jaunes is called “disappointing” is not a huge surprise when The old guard Star Matthias Schoenaerts has been cast in what looks like a very generic version of the Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow nasty if the trailer was any indication.

As for that runtime, we bet it will continue to change in the coming months. Being good, not great, can be enough to Supergirlgiven how much the DCEU has struggled (the news that Alcock is seemingly stealing the show is also a big win).

Remember, the purpose of a test screening is to determine what works and what doesn’t, so that DC Studios can now figure it out, make necessary changes, and perhaps even reshape parts of the film with reshoots. Schoenaerts probably won’t be available for those, of course.

On a related note, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn shared a holiday card featuring Superman, Supergirl, and Krypto in the Fortress of Solitude. You can check this out at the bottom of this article.
