Superb overhead kick gives Seagulls the point

The Cherries were excellent in the opening 45 minutes and struck from the spot after Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen fouled Amine Adli.

Referee Paul Tierney initially issued a yellow card for diving but, following VAR intervention, Seagulls goalkeeper Verbruggen had caught Adli on the thigh, allowing Tavernier to confidently fire the next kick into the bottom left corner five minutes after the initial incident.
The Cherries did not miss their former winger in the early stages as they outplayed and outplayed the hosts.
Evanilson ran and crashed against the post, with the Brazilian striker then heading wide from a good position as out-of-form Brighton were booed at the break.
The Seagulls were much better in the second half, but despite 73% possession, they couldn’t find a way to really make Petrovic work in the Bournemouth goal until the remarkable goal.
Kaoru Mitoma curled just wide, Diego Gomez saw a few shots blocked and substitute Yankuba Mminteh fired a stinging shot at Petrovic.
Bournemouth hung on but were undone when Kostoulas, replacing Danny Welbeck, held on.
