Super League: St Helens beat the Hull FC to go to the second row of the table while Leigh Leopards finally overwhelmed Salford Red Devils | Rugby League news

Paul Wellens’ decision to mix his winning team was roughly paid while St Helens beat the Hull FC 16-10 at the completely nasty stadium.

This victory brings them to second place in the Betfred Super League.

The head coach of the Saints restored Jack Welsby backwards for the first time since the star of England recovered from a knee operation, despite recent winning displays at the back of his teammate Tristan Sailor.

Welsby fought for large parts of the match and a sailor with a discouraged appearance, rejected in the halves, was replaced by Jonny Lomax at the start of the second period.

But the saints joined late with Welsby integral to the test of Moses Mbye who practically sealed the competition.

St Helens head coach Paul Wellens thought about the narrow victory on his side

The saints led by two at the end of a first period in which they were clearly the best team, but were disappointed on several occasions by manipulating the errors.

The hosts took the lead exhilarating after eight minutes when Morgan Knowles raised the shoulders of Yusuf Aydin and Zig-Zag halfway before Kyle Feldt gives the easiest kick of conversions.

But after a second try was excluded for a blow by Welsby in the construction, the momentum began to move and a loose pass from Welsby in Sailor halfway triggered the movement that made black and white on the set.

The saints have avoided an abandonment through Owen Dagnall, but Harry Robertson was deeply dispossessed in a challenge slammed by Lewis Martin, and Davy Litten stretched to slap the loose ball.

Zak Hardaker has launched the conversion and visitors, who are currently clinging to the sixth and last play-off, should have been at the break only for Hardaker to make a penalty on a scale.

The saints were not better with the ball at the start of the second half and Wellens’ decision to withdraw an unhappy sailor after 46 minutes in favor of Lomax clearly did not meet the universal approval of house fans.

Hull FC’s head coach John Cartwright was not discouraged with the performance of his team

Feldt kicked the unconvincing hosts four clear points with 30 to play and Welsby showed a flash of his old self as he sent the impressive Mbye crashing for the second try of the saints after 64 minutes.

Only Hull’s superb defense refused Matt Whitley a third for the saints after Welsby – who clearly resumed confidence per minute – recovered the high kick of Mark Percival and dismissed his teammate under the posts.

Lewis Martin has zoomed in the left corner to give visitors to eight minutes to play, but Hardaker horribly screwed his attempt to convert largely and the saints held to claim a crucial victory.

Leigh has overcome the Salford Hot crisis

The winger Josh Charnley sparked a wave of late points while the two best candidates Leigh returned to victory, crushing the Super League Crisis Salford 38-6 in Leigh Sports Village.

Visitors have aligned nine loan players in their latest range of new looks, including Rowan Milnes whose signature was only confirmed earlier in the day.

But Paul Rowley’s team had the Temerity to take a lead in the first half and resulted in only 12-6 after 59 minutes before conceding 26 points to succumb to a 21st Super League defeat.

Betfred Super League confrontation between Leigh Leopards and Salford Red Devils

With Charnley by scoring two of his team’s seven trials, Leigh finally put recent defeats in Leeds and Hull behind them.

Secondly in the list of all time of all time behind Ryan Hall, the last efforts of Charnley put it 24th in the list of markers of all time in the British game with 314.

Even with the victory, Leigh remains fifth in the table, but just a point behind Wigan, second place.

Matt Davis, Bailey Hodgson and AJ Towse also attracted the last quarter to go with the first half’s efforts by Tesi Niu and Ethan O’Neill.

Leigh has the worst difference in points of one of the first seven teams and the unexpected resistance of Salford made it possible not to make significant breakthroughs.
