Five months after announcing open casting, Lionsgate has discovered the fan who will appear in “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.”
Devon Singletary has been selected to appear in the sixth installment of “The Hunger Games” film series, which will hit theaters on November 20, 2026.
Singletary’s reaction to the news was captured in a video, which was posted to “The Hunger Games” Instagram page as the official announcement. Singletary is a Florida-based actor and filmmaker.
“I’m blown away,” he said on the video. “I’m truly speechless. I’m super excited.”
Singletary was joined by actors McKenna Grace, Whitney Peak and Joseph Zada in congratulating him. They also revealed that he would play Blair, a close friend of Haymitch Abernathy and Burdock Everdeen, Katniss’s father, in the “Hunger Games” prequel.
The video also showed Singletary arriving outside his trailer for his first day of filming, expressing excitement about being a part of the film.
“I love the book ‘Harvest Sunrise,’” he said. “Being selected for the “Hunger Games” is a great honor. »
Last May, Lionsgate announced an open audition for fans to act out their favorite scene, perform their favorite song or improvise for a chance to be selected for a role in “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.”
As previously reported, Francis Lawrence, who has directed every episode of “Hunger Games” since 2012, will return for the prequel series.
The cast is completed by Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Ralph Fiennes, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Maya Hawke, Jesse Plemons, Billy Porter and Lili Taylor, Iris Apatow, Edvin Ryding and Ben Wang.
Based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins, “Sunrise on the Reaping” will revisit the world of Panem nearly a quarter century before the events of the original “Hunger Games” saga. It begins on the morning of the 50th Hunger Games, known as the Second Quarter Quell, in which Haymitch Abernathy enters the murderous arena.
