Studio 100 Film Presents “Halloween vs. Day of the Dead” at AFM

Studio 100 Film will present the animated family adventure “Halloween vs. Day of the Dead” at the American Film Market in Los Angeles (November 11-16).
When rival towns’ candy, Halloween Town and Day of the Dead Town, mysteriously disappear before their biggest festivities, the celebrations are suddenly in danger. The fate of both villages rests in the hands of Pumpkid and Bony Lu, who join forces with a group of eccentric friends to save the holiday and reunite their communities.
The film, written and directed by Celso García (“The Thin Yellow Line,” “The Great Seduction”), is a co-production between Studio 100 Intl. and Lunch Films in Mexico. Executive producers are Martin Krieger of Studio 100 Intl. as well as Axel Vielma and Fernando Estrada of Lunch Films. Thorsten Wegener, García and Gerry Cardoso are the producers.
“Working with Studio 100 Intl. to bring ‘Halloween vs. Day of the Dead’ to life is an exciting opportunity to share a story that is close to our hearts. Together, we are creating a vibrant and heartfelt film that honors both traditions while telling a timeless story of friendship, unity and hope. We believe audiences around the world will connect with the journey of these two children from rival villages,” García said, founder of Lunch Films.
Cardoso added: “We wanted to create a film that was not only fun and full of adventure, but also celebrated the heart of Mexican culture. It’s a playful clash of two iconic traditions, told through an emotional story deeply rooted in family and identity. We hope that audiences around the world will laugh, be moved, and leave with a greater appreciation of beauty, spirit and meaning. of Día de los Muertos.”
“Growing up in Mexico in New York, I looked forward to twice as much candy and twice as many ghosts. Halloween and Día de los Muertos were both a part of my life, so when this project came along, it finally felt like home. After two years of heated – and sometimes scary – discussions, I’m thrilled that we’re launching development and sharing it at the Film Market ” said Lorena Booth, Senior Director of Sales and Acquisitions at Studio 100 Film.
The film is expected to hit theaters in 2028.
