‘Stranger Things’ crashes Netflix as series finale debuts

While many tune in to watch the Time’s Square Ball, the real New Year’s celebration seems to be happening on Netflix.

Like the Stranger Things The series finale debuted on the streaming platform, with fans taking to social media to report technical difficulties as they attempted to watch the two-hour conclusion to the Duffer Brothers’ supernatural series.

“NETFLIX CRASHED, PLEASE LET ME IN, I HAVE NO PLANS FOR NEW YEARS,” one person wrote on X.

“My Netflix has crashed twice already three minutes into the Stranger Things finale,” another posted.

“WHAT DO YOU WANT NETFLIX IS DOWN [NOW]” wrote someone else with the supercut of the season.

After Season 5, Vol. 2 debuted on Christmas, Stranger Things returned to Netflix’s #1 spot with 34.5 million views. In total, Season 5 has 137.1 million views since Volume 1 premiered in November.

Although some Netflix users are having trouble with the app, fans can catch the finale on the big screen, streaming in more than 350 theaters through New Year’s Day.
