Strange New Worlds Season 3 Episode 2 is a prequel to two classic TOS adventures

In the episode “Tos” “The Squire of Gothos, the company fell on a mysterious planet called Gothos, which houses” General Trelane “(William Campbell). He has long observed the earth, but because of the distance from the light years, he thought that the earth was still in the Victorian era, then he dresses and his house as if it was Europe in the 18th century.
Trelane wants the company crew to make their house gothos, and they can barely say no because it has divine powers. While Trelane looks human, it is actually an incorporal entity … and a child, to that. His parents, not even cared for the human form, arise to scold him and call him at home during his culminating fencing duel with Kirk.
“The Squire of Gothos” is an influential “trek” episode, the one that can be considered the basis of many episodes “The Enterprise Encounters God-Like Blues.”
In this episode, Trelane put her powers at work by washing the brain, with the exception of Korby, to think that Spock and Chapel are committed to get married. He fits in the festivities as a marriage planner (apparently carrying a different face from all those who throw his eyes on him). His goal is as mean as a child is often; He is jealous of how Dr. Korby is beautiful and perfect and wants to play a farce on him. As in “The Squire of Gothos”, heroes cannot master Trelane, but he has no choice but to comply when his father arrives. (Who expresses Trelane’s father? East A Q.)
As for the way Trelane thought that humanity was still at the time of conquest during “The Squire of Gothos”, when he already had a first -hand look at Starfleet in “Wedding Bell Blues”? Well, “Strange New Worlds” has already proven that he is ready to give up the barrel to tell a good story like “Wedding Bell Blues”, and the show is better for that.
“Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” is streaming on Paramount +. The new episodes of season 3 will come to the streaming service every Thursday until the end of the season.
