Storm causes several highway closures and school delays Friday

Extreme weather conditions, including high winds and heavy rain, led to numerous highway closures and lane reductions across the Oregon Coast and Willamette Valley.

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has issued flood warnings for several highways, with downed trees, mudslides and flooding creating dangerous travel conditions and power outages in some areas.

Current road closures and restrictions:

OR 58 eastbound is restricted to one lane 16 miles east of McCredie Springs at mile marker 61 due to an accident. Snow on the highway worsens the impact on traffic. Expect delays. Consider using an alternate route if possible. Slow down and watch for emergency responders working in the area.

OR 6 is closed 10 miles west of Glenwood between mileposts 29 and 42 due to a landslide and low grade. No detours are available. Use another route.

USA 101 is closed 2 miles south of Neskowin between mileposts 99 and 104 due to downed trees. No detours are available. Use another route.

USA 101 is closed in Tillamook between mileposts 64 and 65 due to high water.

OR 6 is closed 1 mile east of Tillamook at mile marker 0.5 due to high water. Local detours are available.

OR 22 is closed 10 miles east of the intersection with I-5 in Salem at mile marker 11 due to high water. A detour is in place at Fern Ridge Road via Stayton.

OR 226 is closed 4 miles west of Scio at mile marker 6 due to high water. The detour will be Fish Hatchery Drive for eastbound traffic and Montgomery for westbound traffic.

OR 153 is closed 1 mile east of the intersection with OR 18 at mile marker 1 due to high water. Use another route.

Drivers are advised to slow down, remain alert and watch for workers in these areas.

In Benton CountyPhilomath School District AM buses travel on snow-covered roads. Kings Valley Charter School is closed.

In Lane CountyDorena School will be closed Friday due to a power outage.

Lincoln County The school district is closed. This closure affects all schools, programs and activities in Lincoln County.
