Steve Bannon attacks Elon Musk during the new party: “ You are not American ”

Steve Bannon attacked Elon Musk on his plans to create a new political party.

Speaking on her Warship Podcast, the former chief strategist of President Donald Trump called the billionaire of South African origin, who has American citizenship, and said that he was “not American”.

The context

On Saturday, Musk – who supported Trump during the 2024 presidential election campaign and that the president set out the government’s ministry of efficiency before the couple fell – announced that he was formed a new political party called the “American party”.

He had previously published a survey on July 4, asking the respondents if they wanted a new party, with 65.4% saying that they had supported the idea.

On X, formerly Twitter, he wrote: “Today, the America party is formed to make your freedom”, citing the survey.

As an American citizen of origin abroad, Musk cannot present himself to the presidency, but he can support third -party candidates, who can put himself on the ballot in each state, if they have enough signatures to support their offer. It is rare that third -party candidates allow themselves considerably.

What to know

On his podcast on Friday, Bannon said: “The fault, the buffoon. Elmo Le Mook, formerly known under the name of Elon Musk, Elmo the Mook. He is today, in another smear, and that – a foreigner could do that – thank you on this subject, he launched himself on Twitter at the moment, a survey on an American party, a non -American party.”

He added: “No, brother, you are not an American. You are a South African. We take enough time and prove the facts of this, you should be expelled because it is a crime of what you have done – among many.”

What people say

Responding to a clip of Bannon’s comments that was published on X, Musk wrote: “The fat and drunk Slob called Bannon will return to prison and this time for a long time. He has a life of crime to pay.”

Dafydd Townley, an expert in American policy at the University of Portsmouth, previously said Nowsweek That “third parties do not tend to have a long lifespan in American politics”, adding that the new Musk party “would probably divide the republican vote, potentially resulting in a House of Representatives dominated by Democrats, at least in the short term, because of the winners’ electoral system.”

What happens next

We do not know how the party will be structured and what other figures will be involved. It remains to be seen if he manages to unravel the bipartite system and to succeed.
