List of street closures to be aware of

This Friday evening, downtown Manhattan transforms into a true Halloween fever dream as the legendary Village Halloween Parade rolls through Greenwich Village.

This year’s theme, “Potluck,” invites everyone to bring something to the table – costumes, creativity or just good energy – because, as organizers say, “when we do it together and take care of each other, there’s something for everyone.”

Expect a dazzling and chaotic mix of more than 50,000 zombies, witches, robots, Jedis and other creatures of the night marching down Sixth Avenue, from King Street to 15th Street, between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.

It’s one of New York City’s most iconic traditions, and arguably one of the craziest. Whether you join the parade (costume required, of course) or just watch from backstage, the atmosphere is pure spooky magic. But if you’re not in the mood or just trying to get to somewhere below 23rd Street, prepare yourself. Street closures will lock down large parts of downtown hours before the parade begins, and traffic is expected to build up late into the night. Your best bet: Ditch the car, take the subway, and expect crowds everywhere from SoHo to Chelsea.

If you have to drive, here are all the street closures you need to know:
