Stephen Curry out for a week, will miss the Thunder game

The Golden State Warriors will be without star point guard Stephen Curry due to a quad contusion that will likely see him miss two games.

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry will be out for about a week after suffering a quad contusion.

Curry was injured during the Warriors’ 104-100 loss to the Houston Rockets in the NBA Cup game on Wednesday night.

The Warriors are 10-10 so far in the NBA regular season, but were eliminated from the NBA Cup knockout rounds, going 1-3 in West Group C.

And they now appear ready to be without Curry for at least the next two games after Shams Chanaria and ESPN’s Anthony Slater reported he would be out for “about a week or a little bit longer.”

The Warriors host the New Orleans Pelicans and the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder in their next two games before beginning a four-game road trip next Thursday with a matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Curry could theoretically be back for the trip to Philadelphia, although the Warriors naturally won’t want to rush him so early in an 82-game regular season.

The two-time league MVP and 2022 NBA Finals MVP is averaging 27.9 points per game this season. Curry is shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from three-point range. He leads the league in three-point attempts (12) and three-pointers made (4.7) per game.
