Stephen Colbert says “I pray with all my heart” that the murder of Charlie Kirk is not “a sign of things to come” | Video

In an open cold recorded separately from most of the episode on Wednesday evening of “The Late Show”, Stephen Colbert commented on the murder of right-wing militant Charlie Kirk earlier in the afternoon. The actor expressed his pain to his death, but also to fear for the future when he thought about his own childhood in the tumultuous 1960s.

“After our scripts for this evening show were completed this afternoon, we learned here to` The Late Show ” that Charlie Kirk, an eminent right-wing activist, was killed during a speech commitment in UTAH. Our condolences go to his family and all his loved ones, “said Colbert in the clip.

“I am old enough to remember the political violence of the 1960s, and I hope it is obvious to everyone in America that political violence does not solve any of our political differences,” continued Colbert.

“Political violence is only doing political violence. And I pray with all my heart that it is the aberrant action of a madman and not a sign of things to come,” he added, before entering the show proper. You can watch the declaration, as well as its complete monologue, below:

Kirk, 31, was killed Wednesday afternoon after being killed once in the neck during a speech event at the University of Utah Valley in Orem, Utah. The authorities say that the shooter shot Kirk in a neighboring building, a distance between 100 and 200 meters – at least one or two football fields. And because of the details of the shooting – it was clearly not a mass shot, a single blow was fired and the shooter immediately left the scene in a way that suggests a strong planning in advance – the authorities believe that Kirk was the planned objective.

Unfortunately, there was a lot of speculation, mainly among the conservatives, that Kirk was killed for his policy by someone on the left side of the political spectrum. However, it is literally known that the shooter is or what motivated them.

Police initially owned two people unrelated, but the two were released after it was determined that he has no connection with the crime, and to date, the killer remains as a whole. The police also did not make public to the public any detail that can help people identify the shooter. In what may indicate that the authorities are not substantial, the FBI has set up a tip line.
