Ford recalls more than 740,000 vehicles due to camera display, steering and seat belt issues

Ford is recalling a total of nearly 750,000 vehicles for camera display, steering and seat belt issues, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Camera display

In the United States, more than 290,000 vehicles are being recalled by the American automaker due to a problem with the rearview camera display, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

According to the recall notice dated October 10, the 360-degree camera system in affected Ford vehicles may not correctly display rearview mirror images in certain lighting conditions, impairing the driver’s ability to see behind them, increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall affects certain 2020-2022 F-250 SD, F-350 SD and F-450 SD models.

Ford dealers can update the image processing module software, which is causing the problem, free of charge, the recall states.

The Ford number for this recall is 25SA8. The NHTSA recall number is 25V-686.

This is Ford’s third recall this year involving backup cameras. Nearly 1.1 million Ford and Lincoln vehicles were recalled in May due to a software issue that could cause the rearview camera image to malfunction when the car is in reverse, NHTSA said. An additional recall in July due to a similar issue affected more than 200,000 vehicles.

Piloting problems

Ford Motor also recalled 115,539 vehicles in its Super Duty truck line due to a potential loss of steering issue involving the upper steering column shaft separating from the steering column. As a result of this defect, drivers could experience a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash, NHTSA said in a Sept. 23 advisory.

“Dealers will inspect the steering column and repair or replace the upper shaft if necessary, free of charge,” the recall states.

The recall affects certain 2020-2021 F-250 SD, F-350 SD and F-450 SD models.

Letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on October 6, 2025. A final solution is expected to be available in December 2025, at which time additional letters to owners will be mailed.

The Ford number for this recall is 25S94. The NHTSA recall number is 25V-626.

Seat belt problem

An additional recall of 332,778 Ford vehicles involves a seat belt problem that occurs when a corroded cable breaks, preventing the seat belt from restraining its wearer and putting passengers at increased risk of injury in a crash, according to a Sept. 12 NHTSA notice.

The cables can corrode when they interact with water and road salt, hindering the function of the seat belt.

The recall affects certain 2015-2017 Mustang models.

As a remedy, dealers inspect and replace front seat belt cables free of charge to keep cars safe. Vehicle owners can expect to be informed of the safety risk this month.

Appeal letters are expected to be sent in January, when a final solution is reached, according to the NHTSA notice.

The Ford number for this recall is 25S92. The NHTSA recall number is 25V-614.
