Rahul Dravid put an end to his mandate as a chief coach of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) before the season of the Indian Premier (IPL) 2026 on Saturday August 30.

The report also mentioned that the CEO of KKR, Venky Mysore, is in the Antilles of the Premier League of the Caribbean, and discussions on Dravid can start once he returns to Mumbai. However, he remains uncertain if Dravid is ready to assume a new role of coaching at this stage.
“The CEO of Knights, Venky Mysore, is currently in the Antilles of the Premier League of the Caribbean and a definitive decision to have Dravid on board could start once he would return to Mumbai. However, there is still a lot of uncertainty about whether Dravid would be ready to resume a new role,” said telegraph sources.

The report has also added that the Knight Riders are interested in securing Rahul Dravid on a multi -year coaching agreement. However, the former captain of India and the winner of the T20 World Cup wants to take some time before engaging in a new role.
KKR’s previous coach, Charest Pandit, joined the franchise after the 2022 season. The Kolkata team had a disappointing campaign in 2023, finishing seventh. However, Pandit guided KKR to their third title IPL under Captain Shreyas Iyer in 2024.
Before the 2025 season, KKR separated from Iyer and appointed Ajinkya Rahane as captain. The team had trouble and ended the season in eighth place. They won five of their 14 games and barely missed the playoffs. The franchise is now looking for a new coaching configuration for the next edition.

Rahul Dravid had moved away from the Indian team training to focus on the family, but he accepted the role of the Rajasthan Royals head coach because of his link with the owners of the franchise, in particular Manoj Badale.
Dravid played a key role in the development of young talents during his stay with the Royals. However, his second passage with the franchise ended after a single season, when he refused to take a higher position in the configuration.
Dravid joined the Royals as a player in 2011, team captain in 2012 and 2013, and then served as a team director and mentor in 2014 and 2015. He scored 1,276 points in 46 games for the Royals of Rajasthan to an average of 29.67 and a strike rate of 110.86, including seven half-century.
