Olympiacos left for Munich, where tomorrow (24/10, 20T45 CET) they will face Bayern, for the 6th Euroleague round.
Kostas Papanikolaou did not travel with the team. The captain suffered a blow to the biceps during training yesterday (22/10).
“We have three additions to our squad compared to the match against Maccabi. It can mean a lot or nothing,” commented our team’s coach, Giorgos Bartzokas. “We have to play well. We lost in Munich last year. Bayern are a very different team than last season. They play good defense and based on their squad you have to be absolutely ready when you play them. It’s obvious that last year, with Napier and Awards on their roster, they were a different team. This season, however, they have bigger bodies on the perimeter, they change when defending for long periods of play and we have to be ready to cope.
For his part, Thomas Walkup underlined: “We are delighted and ready whatever the travel schedule. I feel very good. I had time to recover, I trained all week and I’m ready to help the team. Asked if he feels any sort of slowness, he replies: “No, it’s still too early in the season to feel anything like that. We have built, expanded the team, we are improving every day and if we slow down, it will be catastrophic.
