ESPN criticized for the last minute change in “Sunday Night Baseball”

Juan Soto’s return to Yankee Stadium was the biggest scenario in baseball this weekend. So, of course, he was a main candidate to be the player involved in the weekly interview at stake on ESPN Sunday evening baseball. But after being initially appointed the person questioned in the game, the network suddenly decided to rotate.
Sunday evening baseball Journalist Buster Olney announced in an article on X on Sunday morning that Soto would be the micro player, detailing how the network planned to ask Soto the excellent season that his former teammate, Aaron Judge, is currently.
“”Sunday evening baseball, we have the dishes and the Yankees, Juan Soto carrying the microphone, and we will ask him questions about the season of Aaron Judge, “wrote Olney.” Perce @Eliasports: The judge reached the base for the 100th time this season Friday evening. He did it in the 44th game of the team season. It is the least team matches for a player to reach the base 100 times during a season since 2002, when Barry Bonds also arrived at 100 times on the basis of the 44th GIANTS match. The only other Yankees to reach 100 times in the first 44 games of a team season were Mickey Mantle in 1956 (he won the triple crown that year), with Babe Ruth in 1930 and 1923. ”

As you may expect, food fans were not exactly delighted for this part of Sunday evening baseballMany declaring that they will be attentive to the radio, or to shelter the audio entirely during the Soto interview.
A reminder of food fans: do not forget to synchronize the audio for radio broadcast so that you can listen to Howie and Keith instead of Bust on his knees to ask Soto another player who is not in his team. In addition, you can avoid the absolutely terrible ESPN distribution all together …

Reason to deactivate ESPN as usual.

Wait. You go Micro Juan Soto … to ask him questions about … Aaron Judge. How about asking him questions about Pete, Lindor or Life in his new team? It is extremely frustrating and exactly why fans are happy that baseball leaves ESPN

It is honestly surprising that you have decided to have Soto Mic up and the first thing you are going to ask is an opposing player. Wow you are so good in your work.

Fortunately for Mets fans, a last minute change compared to ESPN will so that they will not have to deire the interview in the game of Soto after all. In an article on X, Andrew Marchand by The Athletic reported that Espn will interview Brandon Nimmo rather in the Sunday match.
Pinch Hitter: Brandon Nimmo will now be micro instead of Soto. https://t.co/injw9g8pc4

Marchand did not detail any specific reason for this brutal change, a few hours before the broadcast. Perhaps the indignation of fans of dishes on social networks has played in this decision. But on paper, the most likely reason for change is that Soto was perhaps just not very eager to discuss his former teammate.
After all, Soto left the Yankees for a reason. Not to mention the fact that the success of the dishes as a team this season did not even seem to be a subject of conversation, according to Olney.
Whatever the reason, this is not exactly the best look for ESPN so that the players suddenly cancel interviews in the game. Even if Soto can be justified to do it depending on the plan of the network to use it to discuss further from an opposing player …
