The handle of the city fans in the stand behind Max Weiss’s goal did its best to reveal the decibels, Robinson sending an early shot right off the German left post.

Their Lancashire counterparts followed the plunge shortly after Lesley Ogochukwu has made their way through the midfielder before testing the manipulation of Nathan Trott.

But, for the most part during the opening exchanges, City was the smooth and most cohesive of the two outfits.

Little by little, however, Burnley’s superiority began to shine and only a brilliant block of Calum Chambers prevented Flemming from claiming the breakthrough after having controlled the Cup of Lucas Pires.

A few moments later, he almost sent Armando Broja Darting Clean through, but some cross -communication lines stopped promising.

City punished this error in the 30th minute when Joel Colwill pulled them in front.

Robinson rightly doubled the city’s advantage five minutes later. On this occasion, Rubin Colwill was the supplier, sending the ball through the box so that the former striker of Sheffield United and West Brom converts.

After having offered little during the first period – a wasted opportunity for Broja apart – Parker will have urged his accusations to improve their match before the start of the second.

They did it, taking advantage of more possession and position on the ground, but City’s organization and desire assured that they remain at the length of the arms for the most part until a trott error gives Burnley a road to Burnley.

The poorly placed pass of the goalkeeper fell gently for Marcus Edwards, whose pass found Flemming and allowed the Dutch to curl up a sumptuous effort from the 56th minute from the outside, but Cardiff held up.
